FAQ
Is my song uploaded?
No. Everything is analysed inside your browser on your own device. Your audio is never sent anywhere, so it’s safe for unreleased masters.
How accurate is the key finder?
It’s right for most songs with a clear tonal centre. Songs that change key, use unusual modes, or sit between a minor key and its relative major can go either way — when it’s unsure, it shows the runner-up too.
How does it work?
It measures how much of each of the 12 notes is present across the song (a chromagram), corrects for tuning that isn’t quite standard, then compares the result with key profiles from music research.
What is the Camelot code?
A simple numbering of keys for harmonic mixing. Tracks with the same code, one number either side, or the same number with the other letter mix without clashing.
Can I find the key of a song from YouTube?
This tool works with audio files on your device. If you have the song as a file, drop it in.
Does it find the tempo too?
Yes — the BPM appears alongside the key, with ×2 and ½ buttons for half- or double-time.
Is it free?
Yes — free, with no sign-up, supported by the ads on the page.
