Crop or fit?

CropFills the whole vertical screen. Best when the action is in one area — a person talking, a single player, a product.
Fit with blurKeeps the full frame, with a soft blurred copy filling the space. Best for wide scenery, gameplay and screen recordings.
Fit with colourThe same, on a solid colour — clean for tutorials and slides.
Size1080 × 1920 is the standard for Shorts, Reels and TikTok.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is processed inside your browser on your own device and never sent anywhere — so it’s fast to start and safe for private clips.

How do I make a YouTube video vertical for Shorts?

Drop in the video, keep the 9:16 shape, drag the frame over the important part, trim it to under three minutes, and press Make the video. Upload the MP4 as a Short.

Will it lose quality?

Cropping enlarges part of the picture, so a 1080p landscape video cropped to vertical is a little softer. Starting from 4K footage, or using “fit with blurred background”, keeps it sharp.

Can I crop to a square?

Yes — choose 1:1, or 4:5 for an Instagram portrait post.

Does it keep the sound?

Yes, unless you untick “Keep the sound”.

Is there a watermark?

Only a small optional “Made with” badge, which you can see in the preview. Untick it and the video is exported with no badge at all.

Which browser works best?

Chrome or Edge on a computer are fastest, because they use your graphics card to encode video. Safari works for most files; phones work for shorter clips.

Is it free?

Yes — free, no sign-up and no watermark. The site is supported by the ads on the page.
